Reading plans

Shall I just re-name this the Willa Cather blog and be done with it? I'm planning to re-read an old favourite The Professor's House over the Easter break. Bit of a fuzzy photo but I'm not faffing around with the camera any more - cuts into valuable reading time! I've almost finished Anne of Green Gables. Why did I leave it so long to discover the wonderful Lucy Maud Montgomery? I'm also thinking of reading some Katherine Mansfield short stories, too. It's many years since I've read Mansfield.

Have a lovely Easter break everyone and remember that reading is a sedentary activity so go easy on the chocolate eggs;-)

Well one day I'll be reading Willa Cather and Olivia Manning and rereading Louise Erdrich because of you. They are all authors I still need to discover (and rediscover) and I love that you seem to savour them, slowly, thus able to appreciate them a lot more. When I'm done with all these reading challenges that I tried out this year, I intend to slow down and smell the roses in the pages, just like you do. Your blog is refreshing.

Happy Easter to you!

I still haven't read any Cather, I must remedy that soon.

Glad to hear you've enjoyed Anne of Green Gables.

I adored Lucy Maud Montgomery as a child. I used to save up my allowance every week, and when I had enough, I'd walk up to the bookstore to buy the next Anne book...then the Rilla books...then the Emily books...Maybe it's time to revisit them...

Hope you're having a lovely Easter break! K x

Are you going to post your thoughts on Katherine Mansfield? I read some of her short stories and thought they were excellent! I thought they were a cross between Cather and Woolf. I'd love to see what you think about them.

Claire, I hope you enjoy Cather and Erdrich as much as I do. I must admit, I don't do reading challenges because I just like to drift along my own path - I used to attend two 'real life' book clubs but I've cut that down to one as well because it was starting to become a pressure.

Sarah and Kristina - I want to read more of the Anne series over the summer, I think probably in chronological order, but I've heard that some are better than others.

Laura, yes, I particularly want to read The Doll's House and Her First Ball which are stories I remember liking when I first read Mansfield. I've also ordered Mansfield's Journal from Persephone books. Have you posted on Mansfield? I must check your archives.

I haven't posted on Mansfield, but I would love to re-post your review if you do one! I really loved The Daughters of the Late Colonel--it's a longish short story, but I was sad when it ended so soon.
