I'm not hugely into films so I've not seen many Austen adaptions but I thought Gwyneth Paltrow was a very good Emma a few years ago.Vintage Readinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05971819409379613967noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3910091443817192109.post-48800022758007443572009-01-31T12:41:00.000-08:002009-01-31T12:41:00.000-08:00I've also read all of Jane except...Northanger...I've also read all of Jane except...Northanger Abbey, I think. Did you see the "Jane Austen Book Club"? It really shows how a book/author can impact your life. I love reading but I don't shun movie interpretations. I just look at them as another person's idea of what they read...something different from the book...that way I don't feel too disturbed. My two favorites are "Sense and Sensibility" (as you know the Emma Thompson film interpretation was fabulous but of course much was added/subtracted) and "Pride and Prejudice" (A & E film version is the best...because I fell in love with Colin Firth- I'm so objective!)<BR/>"Jane Austen's Life Society Works" shows her Chawton Cottage home..."Cottage" is a term to be taken lightly. The collection was a gift from my husband who feeds my Austin obsession...but it extends to many other authors as well...(I just wrote a post about William Carlos Williams.)<BR/>Stunning to have a blog that focuses on great reads.Cynthia Pittmannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12656761837022197235noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3910091443817192109.post-74665633464576457532009-01-28T17:23:00.000-08:002009-01-28T17:23:00.000-08:00Teresa, they are beautiful aren't they? I am going to try to read the unread books on my shelves and use my library. I just stopped in to my favorite bookstore in Madison — very much like yours but no beach. Just a wonderful window with 2nd-hand books and blooming plants. Inside a wonderful staff and walls of books.LINDA from Each Little Worldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02380944603357066650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3910091443817192109.post-32057656078117858972009-01-28T05:08:00.000-08:002009-01-28T05:08:00.000-08:00You're so good!
